| Andy joined Sussex Police as a constable in 1982 and progressed through all ranks to Chief Superintendent. Between 1994 and 1996 he was seconded to the Regional Crime Squad. Within Sussex Police his roles included Head of the Community Safety Department, Divisional Commander of Highdown and then Brighton.
In 2004 Andy was appointed as Assistant Chief Constable of Essex Police initially with responsibility for Personnel and Training. In 2006 he became ACC Territorial Policing. He also leads on the implementation of Neighbourhood Policing force wide. From October 2006 Andy has also taken over responsibility for crime and mobile support as ACC Protective Services.
Andy sits on the ACPO Drugs Committee and has the national lead on drug precursors. He is a member of the ACPO Public Order Working Group, leading nationally on intelligence.
